Raphael

Bunny in Repose, Watercolour sketch by Artist Bee 2011

No, I am not referring to the great artist. Raphael is my bunny, and he is named after the angel. He came into our lives while we were still grieving for Muffin, our beloved first lop ear bun who died as a result of a tragic accident. Raphy is the most loving gentle bunny I have ever known. He is extremely affectionate, and licks everyone who befriends him. The first time he licked my face, I was moved to tears. He is the angel sent from above to heal our emotional wounds. He made our loss easier to bear, and since then has done much more for our family. He also makes a good model for sketching. The watercolour sketch above is Bunny in Repose. Here he is relaxed enough for a long pose, though still keeping a watchful eye on me. The sketch below had to be accomplished in seconds, because a bun on the move waits for no one. For this reason, sketching a moving subject is the best exercise to hone my skills.
